As with any popular recipe, there are many variants of pigs in a blanket. We shall talk about two simple ways to cook pigs in a blanket in this guide.
Get some chipolata sausages, slices of bacon, cocktail sticks or toothpicks and you need an oven. Slice the bacon, if not sliced already, and stretch them so they get flattened and a bit longer. Cut the strip into half lengthwise and then wrap the slices around the sausages. Use the toothpicks or cocktail sticks to hold the bacon in place around the sausages. While you do this, preheat the oven to about 400 degrees F.
Place the sausages in the oven on the roasting tray and cook them for around fifteen minutes. They should appear to be golden brown in that time. This indicates the pigs in a blanket are cooked through. Serve them hot with a sauce or cheesy dips if you like. Ideally, you should eat them hot. If they cool down over time, you can always reheat them in the oven for a minute or two using the instant mode.
Another popular recipe of pigs in a blanket involves cheese instead of bacon. There are people who don’t like to combine bacon and sausage and would rather opt for some processed cheese. This recipe requires sausages, processed cheese, biscuit dough and you can use cookie sheet to wrap instead of toothpicks or cocktail sticks. Take the sausages, wrap them with cheese and then use the biscuit dough to wrap the combine. Use the cookie sheet to hold the pigs in a blanket in place. Preheat the oven up to 350 degrees F for this recipe and then place the stuff inside. Bake for about ten or fifteen minutes, till the biscuit dough takes on a brown hue. Serve with seasonings of your choice or just as they are.
