Cooking Shirataki Noodles
Before cooking the traditional shirataki noodles, they need to be rinsed, as the root they are made from is quite starchy. Using cold water, rinse the noodles for about two to three minutes. You can place them in a strainer to rinse them if you prefer, but toss them gently so all of the noodles are well rinsed.
After they have been rinsed, you can add them to a pot of hot water and bring them to a boil. It should only take two to three minutes of boiling time for the noodles to become soft. The tofu-based noodles can be prepared in the same way or the tofu style noodles can be pan-fried with a little oil to crisp them.
Shirataki noodles can be served in several ways, depending on what you like. You can add vegetables, chicken or make them plain with the sauce of your choice. They are a versatile noodle that many people grow to love once they’ve had them. Not only are they popular with people on low-carb diets, but people who cannot get gluten can have these noodles instead of traditional pasta noodles.
